principles of design in terms of styling

People vary in terms of their body types and  usually they would want to change an element of their body, this could be achieved in terms of the clothing he/she wears 

If a person wants to look broader on the hips they could use principles of design such as lines, balance, textures contrast to bring about the look he/she wants


By wear a dark coloured top and wearing a bright neon coloured skirt it makes a person look narrow from the top whereas the brighter bottom makes a person look broader on the bottom

Elephant dung heels

Christopher  Ofili -  Is an english Turner Prize winning painter who is best know for incorporating elephant dung in his paintings










                                       SOME OF HIS PAINTINGS USING ELEPHANT DUNG

 London-based designer, INSA,  created the elephant dung shoes entitled " anything goes when it comes to shoes' as a response to the famous work of Chris Ofili.  INSA retraced Ofili’s footsteps, from over 15 years ago, and used dung from the same family of elephants Ofili preferred. Just to be clear, we’re not talking about dung taken directly off the ground and slapped on the shoes.The material is treated to avoid putrefaction.

Balance in terms of fashion

The image above demonstrates balance in terms of fashion whether its clothes , accessories or makeup.  Balance is the equal distribution of visual weight in a design. It can be brought about in fashion by adding or subtracting an element or for example in the picture above the dress has a side slit on the left side so to bring about balance there is a right shoulder strap or if the skirt if printed so to bring about balance we add a plain top
